Cosmic Dance

Art is much related to spirituality, the most important lesson being Letting Go and Letting God.

The Cosmic Dance was done freely and spontaneously. Obviously, that does not signify that the sometimes tedious technicalities of etching were not respected.

The first part of the work was etching the Cosmos; this was done with the “aquatint technique”.

(Etching a copper plate with nitric acid, resin and varnish to produce areas of tonal shadings)

After several trial and errors, contentment arrived.

Following that, the idea of dancing on the copper plate happened. This was not easy, because of the special varnish laid on the copper.

The feet were sticky and roars of laughter occurred. Finally the copper plate was dipped into acid in order to get the foot prints.

The used technique is called “eau forte”.

Again there was a couple of “épreuve d’artiste” till finally satisfaction with the work was achieved.

Next step was to print the feet over the cosmos and voilà the result!

… that is undoubtedly the essence of the Universe.
